The Belle Meade community is located between Hillsboro Pike to the east, and Harding Pike/Highway 100 to the west, and Percy Warner Park to the south. It is southwest of downtown Nashville, and due west of the Green Hills community. It is often referred to as the "old money" part of Nashville. This is where many residents are native Nashvillians, and generations of family members have lived in Nashville, many in the Belle Meade community.

The land that is Belle Meade occupies today is rich in history. Dating back to the native Indian tribes who called this land "home", and the early European settlers, who used this part of Tennessee as a road to travel north and south, they all genuinely appreciated the natural beauty of the area.

The "crown jewel" of the Belle Meade community is the spectacular Belle Meade Mansion. Today, this beautiful plantation home serves primarily as a tourist attraction, but it also serves as a key part of the history of the area. In the early 1800's, John Harding purchased 200 acres of this beautiful part of middle Tennessee and began to farm the land. Eventually, he brought in horses, and began breeding and selling thoroughbred horses from his plantation. In the early 1900's, the plantation along with the beautiful mansion, were sold at auction due to the debts that the owners had incurred. Today, the spectacular Belle Meade Mansion is open to the public, and offers tours of the facility for visitors. You will also find the Belle Meade Winery located on the grounds of the Belle Meade Mansion.

In addition to the Belle Meade Mansion, one of the other prized destinations in Belle Meade is the luxurious Belle Meade Country Club. Belle Meade Country Club is one of the most exclusive private country clubs in all of middle Tennessee. It was founded in 1901, and features a magnificent Rees Jones designed golf course to test the skills of players at all levels.

Both the Belle Meade Plantation and the Belle Meade Country Club are popular destinations for weddings, anniversary celebrations and special gatherings of all types.

From a housing perspective, Belle Meade is Nashville's most exclusive place to live. You will find plantation-style luxury estates, and luxury homes that reflect a distinct European flair. Many of these homes are of a Tudor style, but you will also find traditional, modern and neo-classical style homes mixed within the same luxury home communities.

The Belle Meade community is conveniently located a mere 15 minute ride from downtown Nashville, and just minutes from the spectacular Mall at Green Hills and all the specialty shops and boutiques to be found there.

Within the community, you will find several unique dining options to choose from, including Sperry's, known for their superb steaks, Le Peep, known for their incredible breakfast and brunch creations, and Sam's Place, which is a neighborhood sports bar and grill gathering place for locals. And, if you don't mind traveling to West End in Nashville or to Green Hills, you have countless dining options to choose from, many of which are one-of-a-kind dining spots where you will find that truly unique dining experience.
